Two suspected bandits were killed during a security operation by the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command in Abuja on Wednesday, as confirmed by Commissioner of Police Ahmed Mohammed Sanusi. The raid, which took place in parts of the capital city, was personally led by the police commissioner and forms part of ongoing efforts to tackle armed criminal elements within the FCT.

According to Sanusi, the operation specifically targeted a gang suspected of terrorising residents and was executed following intelligence reports of their involvement in recent criminal activities across Abuja and its environs. He addressed journalists at the command headquarters, stating that both suspects were neutralised during an engagement with police operatives.

The renewed security push comes amid concerns over rising cases of attacks and abductions in the FCT and neighbouring communities. Residents have repeatedly called for more visible policing and effective action against banditry and other violent crimes threatening safety in the capital.
