Platform offers real-time match streaming, live betting, and rewards for Malaysian fans during ongoing FIFA tournament season
Winbox, an online gaming platform, has introduced live streaming of FIFA World Cup 2026 matches alongside in-play betting features for Malaysian football fans this June. The initiative aims to enhance fan engagement during the global tournament, allowing users to watch matches and place bets seamlessly on their mobile devices or computers.
According to details released by the company on Sunday, Winbox now streams every fixture of the World Cup—from group stages through knockout rounds—directly on its platform. This service is designed for mobile-first access, with features that ensure quick loading and stable video quality whether users are at home or in public venues such as mamak restaurants. Previously, fans had to switch between separate streaming and betting apps to follow matches and place bets.
The new offering also integrates real-time betting markets that update as matches progress. Fans can respond instantly to major developments on the pitch—such as red cards or penalties—by placing or adjusting their bets without leaving the live stream. Winbox stated that its system is optimised to handle heavy traffic during peak match times when national interest is high.
In addition to live features, Winbox has launched a FIFA Points promotion exclusive to the World Cup period. Registered users can accumulate points through regular engagement on the platform, with new members receiving bonus points upon signing up. These points can be redeemed for various prizes during the tournament window. Registration reportedly takes under two minutes, giving users immediate access to all live features and promotions.
Winbox’s management said the combined experience of streaming, live betting, and rewards makes this year’s World Cup unique for Malaysian users. The company emphasised that these services are available only during the tournament period, encouraging fans to register early for maximum benefit.

Civil Group Petitions NJC, Demands Disciplinary Action Against Judge Over ADC Deregistration Ruling
Petition alleges judicial misconduct in Abuja court judgement; group seeks urgent intervention from Chief Justice of Nigeria
Petition alleges judicial misconduct in Abuja court judgement; group seeks urgent intervention from Chief Justice of Nigeria
A civil society group has submitted a petition to the National Judicial Council (NJC) and Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Olukayode Ariwoola, protesting a recent Federal High Court judgement that upheld the deregistration of the African Democratic Congress (ADC). The petition was filed in Abuja on Tuesday by the group, which accused the presiding judge of misconduct and called for immediate disciplinary action.
According to the group’s statement, the judgement in question was delivered by a Federal High Court judge sitting in Abuja, who ruled in favour of the Independent National Electoral Commission’s (INEC) decision to deregister ADC alongside several other political parties. The petitioners allege that the ruling failed to consider key legal arguments presented by ADC and that it undermined fair democratic participation.
The deregistration of ADC and other affected parties has generated significant concern among political actors and observers, as it reduces the number of parties eligible to contest future elections. The group noted that this development could limit voter choice and potentially disenfranchise supporters of smaller political platforms. They further argued that such court decisions have broader implications for Nigeria’s multi-party democracy.
While urging NJC and the CJN to probe the judge’s conduct, the group stressed that judicial officers must be held accountable for actions perceived as unjust or prejudicial. As at press time, there has been no official response from either the NJC or Justice Ariwoola regarding the petition. INEC had earlier defended its action on deregistration as being in line with constitutional provisions.
The next steps remain unclear as stakeholders await NJC’s position on the matter. Political analysts say this case may set a precedent for how alleged judicial misconduct is addressed within Nigeria’s legal system.

Armed men stormed National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies premises on Tuesday; police intensify patrols across Plateau State
Armed men attacked the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS) in Kuru, Jos South Local Government Area of Plateau State, on Tuesday, killing two individuals during the incident. The assault occurred within the institute’s premises, a location known for hosting top-level policy formulation and research in Nigeria.
Witnesses said the gunmen gained entry into the NIPSS grounds in the early hours of Tuesday, firing sporadically and causing panic among staff and residents nearby. The identities of those killed have not yet been officially disclosed, but security sources confirmed that two persons lost their lives before the attackers fled the scene.
The attack on NIPSS—a federal institution central to Nigeria’s public policy and leadership training—has raised fresh concerns about insecurity in Plateau State and North-Central Nigeria. In recent years, the state has witnessed repeated attacks by unidentified armed groups targeting rural communities and government facilities.
Security agencies have since cordoned off the area while launching an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident. Plateau State Police Command said officers had been deployed to increase patrols around Kuru and neighbouring areas. “We are working to apprehend those behind this attack,” a senior police official stated on Tuesday afternoon.
NIPSS management is yet to issue an official statement as at press time. The Plateau State government has also not commented on the incident. Meanwhile, residents are calling for urgent government action to safeguard strategic national institutions. Further updates are expected as investigations progress.

Anti-Vice Squad intensifies operations as fleeing suspect escapes arrest; exhibits in custody and investigation ongoing
Anti-Vice Squad intensifies operations as fleeing suspect escapes arrest; exhibits in custody and investigation ongoing
The Delta State Police Command has intercepted a vehicle loaded with suspected illicit drugs after the driver, believed to be a member of a robbery syndicate, abandoned the car and fled during a routine stop-and-search operation along the Ozoro–Oleh Expressway in Isoko North Local Government Area. The incident occurred around 4:00am on Friday, 14 June 2026, according to the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe.
Police operatives from the Anti-Vice Squad had flagged down a Toyota Sienna with registration number FST 242 YK for routine checks when the driver reportedly became evasive and bolted into nearby bush on sighting officers. Despite an immediate pursuit by police personnel, the suspect managed to escape arrest.
A thorough search of the abandoned vehicle led to the discovery of a large quantity of substances suspected to be illicit drugs, including Codeine, Tramadol, Swinol, Man G and Vega. The seized items have since been taken into police custody as exhibits while efforts are ongoing to apprehend the fleeing suspect.
SP Edafe stated that this interception is part of Delta Police Command’s renewed clampdown on violent crime and drug trafficking across the state. “Our officers remain committed to ensuring public safety and ridding communities of criminal elements,” Edafe said in a press briefing at Asaba. No arrests have been made so far in connection with this particular operation.
The latest development comes amid increased concern over the use of vehicles for transporting illicit substances within Delta State and neighbouring areas in Nigeria’s South-South zone. Security agencies have stepped up patrols and intelligence gathering along major highways notorious for criminal activity. Residents are urged by police authorities to remain vigilant and report suspicious movements within their communities as investigations into the case continue.
