Air Peace has announced a significant expansion of its domestic and regional operations, unveiling increased flight frequencies across key Nigerian cities and the launch of new services to four additional African destinations. The move, effective from June through August 2026, is aimed at boosting connectivity and positioning Lagos as a central hub for aviation in West and Central Africa.
According to a statement released on Tuesday by Efe Osifo-Whiskey, spokesperson for Air Peace, the carrier’s revised Summer 2026 schedule will see additional capacity deployed on high-demand domestic routes. From June 22, passengers can expect up to seven daily flights between Lagos and Abuja, four daily flights linking Lagos and Owerri, three daily services between Lagos and Asaba, and two daily flights each connecting Lagos-Benin, Lagos-Warri, Lagos-Enugu, Abuja-Owerri and Abuja-Asaba.
The airline said the decision to ramp up frequencies comes in response to growing passenger demand from both business and leisure travellers. Industry analysts note that increased connectivity within Nigeria not only facilitates trade but also supports regional economic growth by providing more travel options for citizens and businesses. Air Peace’s expansion reflects broader sector efforts to position Nigeria as a competitive player in Africa’s aviation market.
Osifo-Whiskey stated that the new schedule was carefully designed to enhance travel convenience while supporting the government’s vision of establishing Lagos as a leading aviation gateway. He added that the additional regional flights would stimulate trade and tourism links between Nigeria and neighbouring countries. Details on the specific African cities being added were not disclosed in the announcement.
With this rollout, Air Peace aims to consolidate its market leadership domestically while pursuing greater presence on the continent. The airline encouraged customers to take advantage of increased frequencies when planning summer travel. A Lagos tenant, identified as Mr Bachelor, has revealed he lived for more than a year in a Surulere apartment without knowing his landlord’s late father was buried beneath the living room floor. The discovery was made on September 20, 2026, when members of the landlord’s family visited the property and informed the tenant of their intention to exhume the remains.
According to Mr Bachelor, who shared details of the incident on X (formerly Twitter), he was in his apartment when the landlord’s relatives arrived and disclosed that their late brother—who is also the landlord’s father—had been buried in the middle of his sitting room. “He was buried right in my living room, and I was not aware until they came around today,” he stated.
The family explained that they planned to move the body to another location they had prepared and assured Mr Bachelor that necessary repairs would be made to his sitting room after the exhumation. The tenant noted that he was the first occupant of the newly built house and had spent over a year there before learning about the burial.
The incident has raised fresh concerns among Lagos residents about transparency from landlords regarding property histories. Some social media users responding to Mr Bachelor’s post urged prospective tenants across Nigeria to conduct due diligence before moving into rental properties. Others called for clearer regulations around residential burials and disclosure by property owners.
